Further Description
  •  We have been operating as a business in Morecambe for well over twenty years, initially as Riley and Coxhill in the Arndale Centre, Morecambe, and then later, further down Euston Road. In May 2006 we transferred premises from Euston Road to Torrisholme. Between us we have a wealth of experience and are well able and qualified to satisfy all your optical requirements. The qualified staff are as follows; Keith Coxhill FBDOMike Moon BSc (Hons) FCOptom FBDOSandra Moon BSc FCOptom Keith Coxhill is the dispensing optician, responsible in the main for lenses and spectacle frames. He is a local lad. If you require advice about any aspect of your spectacles, or if they need fitting or adjusting, then he has extensive knowledge and experience in these matters. We also have a small workshop, which is managed by Keith. We are able to supply many spectacles within the day, often within the hour, This does mean fitting from stock lenses, which is not always the best option, unless the lenses are of a low power. However it is a useful emergency backup when the inevitable accidents occur. We have a wide range of spectacles to cover all tastes and expenses whether this is for designer frames, or just something functional. Similarly with lenses. We are able to source the most sophisticated of varifocals using materials for thin lenses or photochromic materials. These can have protective hard coatings or the best of anti reflective finishes which make the lenses almost invisible. But if your budget is restricted, for whatever reason, then we can advise accordingly. Mr and Mrs Moon carry out the eye examinations, both private and health service.Sandra Moon is a Lancashire lass and comes from Accrington, Mike Moon was born near Bath in Somerset. We have all the latest equipment including a fundus camera. A couple of pictures are shown, but there is probably not enough space on this web site for you to make out the minor details that this technology allows us to observe. We also perform DVLA field tests. Both opticians are happy to discuss your worries, and in most cases we can put your minds at rest. We are also able to supply a full range of contact lenses. This applies whether you are 9 or 90, or even outside these age groups!Contact lenses come in a wide range of materials and sizes and can cope with most prescriptions. They can be worn on an occasional basis, or daily or monthly, monthly disposables being the most common. We  have lenses you can sleep in, though they are not suitable for everybody. Lenses are also available in multifocal formats, avoiding the constant use of reading spectacles. However, we are at the forefront of technology here, and sad to say, w have not got it right yet!  Initial contact lens trials are free.We specialise in tinted lenses for dyslexia and are often able to help when all else fails. We also check that there are no other problems such as poor eye coordination. This is part of a standard NHS eye examination, which would be carried out at or about the same time as the consultation for dyslexia. For those of you whose vision is sadly beginning to let you down, we have a good range of magnifying glasses in stock for the time when that bit of extra definition is required, either because the print is too small, or because the eyesight is unfortunately deteriorating. Finally we are able to supply safety or VDU spectacles, and can advise on all manner of problems including cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and dry eyes. We have written leaflets available on all these problems. The pictures that follow are photographs of the retina at the back of the eye, taken with or own digital imaging equipment. This has been an expensive investment, so we currently (2008) charge an extra £15 for this service. The first picture shows a right eye with glaucoma, and the second a ledt eye with dry macular degeneration.
