Further Description
  • Pump Cottage is an attractive Edwardian house set on the outskirts of the delightful village of Upney - with its ancient wishing well. This small, friendly B & B offers a high standard of comfortable accommodation in a peaceful setting, with outstanding views over the surrounding countryside. With over 300 coast and countryside walks in West Dorset to choose from, there’s not excuse for not getting out and about, The South West Coast path provides breathtaking views, while cyclists can take advantage of quiet country country lanes or follow the National Cycle Network routes. We are very near the Inner S.W. Coast Path and surrounded by Wey Valley Walks. We cater especially for walkers and cyclists, with secure undercover storage for bicycles and drying and hosing-down facilities. We have a good supply of maps and useful local information, and can always arrange collection/transportation of luggage (or people!) if required.Weymouth (four miles away) is the complete costal resort. From the town’s beautiful crescent-shaped golden sandy beach, historic harbour, marina country park and nature reserve to the bustling, rejuvenated town centre, there’s something for everyone. Water sports feature prominently in the list of activities - excellent wind conditions all the year round the waters of Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour are a mecca for windsurfers and dinghy sailors. As one of the top angling venues in the country, Weymouth offers all types of fishing from pier to deep sea fishing trips. Golf, bowling, swimming - the list of opportunity for sport is endless. Attractions include the Timewalk and Brewery Days, Sea Life Park, Deep Sea Adventure and Lodmoor Country Park. From the picturesque village of Abbotsbury one can visit the Sub-Tropical Gardens, the Swannery and the Abbotsbury Childrens Farm - this provides excellent activities for small children (inside and out). The bright, bustling and elegant market town of Dorchester is not only Dorset’s county town, but is packed full of history, from the Romans to Thomas Hardy. Surrounded by broad, tree-lined walks, it’s a great place to browse and shop. From dinosaurs to Tutankhamen and from teddy bears to Chinese warriors, you’ll find them all in Dorchester
