  • Beanacre Barn is stuated high in the beautiful Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB, in Somerset. On the edge of a village with views over the rolling hills, this holiday barn dates back to the 16th century and was originally part of Church Farm. It has been lovingly converted, beautifully furnished and equipped by the owners. Many traditional features have been incorporated such as exposed beams, oak framed wall and old pine and flagstone floors. The accommodation is on one level with easy walking access. The cottage has been designed to sleep two guests but also offers a high quality sofa-bed in the sitting room which can accommodate a further two guests or visitors. This unusually spacious holiday accommodation combines modern comforts and facilities with traditional style to ensure your stay is relaxing and memorable. Positioned in a beautiful walled cottage garden, which is exclusively for your use, the south facing patio is the perfect place to relax or enjoy eating alfresco whilst taking in the lovely views and watching the wildlife. The Accommodation comprises: Sitting Room. This lovely spacious room has double doors leading to a secluded patio and is cool and airy in the summer months and the perfect place to relax in front of the log burner on those more chilly winter evenings, watching the flames flicker. It benefits from 'freeview' television, video and DVD player and a hi-fi with CD player. The comfortable sofa bed, with sprung matress, provides additional sleeping facilities for two people. Kitchen This bright area with views across the fields, is equipped to a high standard offering a ceramic hob and fan oven, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The use of a tumble dryer is available upon request. There is a spacious Dining Area with large pine table and seating for four. Bedroom. A twin bedded room with duvets, bed linen, pillows and bedspreads. A television and radio are provided here and there is plenty of hanging and storage space. Shower Room. This room has a luxurious spacious shower area with power shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet. This is the ideal country retreat to get away from the pressures of every day life and explore this beautiful corner of the West Country of England. Bath and Bristol are only thirteen miles away and the ancient cathedral city of Wells is just five miles, with its interesting shops and good selection of restaurants. Village pub with bar food and local ale & cider, 500 metres. Excellent restaurants and inns within 2 miles. Country Houses Wi­thin 40 minutes drive there is a remarkable selection of Country Houses open to visitors, most of them under the National Trust. These include; the amazing Victorian mansion of Tyntesfield, the ­Tudor house at Barrington Court, Montacute House the magnificent Elizabethan manor and Lytes Cary Manor to mention only a few. Glorious Gardens In addition to the many wonderful country houses, the area boasts a remarkable number of beautiful, and in some cases famous, gardens which are open to the public. These include the garden at Tintinhull (NT), the gardens originally created by Margery Fish at East Lambrook Manor and Hestercombe Gardens with its georgian landscape, victorian terrace and edwardian gardens designed by Lutyens and Jekyll. Additionally Somerset offers one of the largest selections of private gardens open to the public under the National Gardens Scheme (NGS). The Mendip Hills The high ground, lanes and ancient footpaths of the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), have so much to offer the ‘holiday explorer’. The Mendips are particularly rich in archaeological sites such as the Priddy Nine Barrows or the Stone Circles at Stanton Drew Other places of interest include: Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, Cheddar Gorge, the Royal Bath & West Showground, and Wookey Hole caves.
