Further Description
  •  This community-run shop opened in February, 2007, and is run by a team of local volunteers. The village was left previously with no village shop or post office when the old one closed its doors when the owners left the village.  Determined to restore the facility, the villagers got together at a public meeting and a committee of 8 was formed to take the project forward. New premises were sought, in the form of the old village public toilets!  These were partly demolished and extended to form our new shop. Funding was also obtained and after two years of hard work this village now has a thriving business to be proud of.  We have been featured on the BBC2's programme "Power to the People", and in many magazines and newspapers throughout the country, highlighting the tremendous achievements that we have made. We are a village shop with a story to tell!!
