Further Description
  • Since Jean & Kevin Muttit took over and began a complete refurbishment programme in July 2004, there is now a bustling tea room offering an attractive menu of good, old-fashioned, home-cooked food. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally from other HEART of ENGLAND fine foods members. The recent delivery of a branded Savour the Flavour chiller cabinet means that regular shoppers, visitors or diners, having tried the wonderful produce, can take home a little piece of HEART of ENGLAND heaven to enjoy. Lending the tea room a warm, genteel atmosphere from an age gone by is the serving of light meals and teas on an eclectic array of antique, fine bone china crockery which Jean has collected avidly since her great aunt gave her a beautiful collection as an engagement present. She says, ‘I have accumulated so many sets of china over the years that we thought we’d like to buy a tea room to display it all in! Not only does the crockery get to see active service again but the customers really appreciate having their tea served in such delicate, genuine bone china cups.’Fine cakes including the Brampton Bryan cherry cake are available and light lunches to suit all tastes. On sunday, there is the oppurtunity for Sunday lunch but it must be booked due to the small size of the tea room. However, the first person to book gets to choose the roast for that day.
