Further Description
  • Opening times:  Bar Every evening 5.00-11.00pm (10.30 Sun) Lunchtimes Tues all week 12.00-3.00 serving food Also Serving Food Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat Eves Restaurant Friday & Saturday evenings Sunday 12.00 - 4.00pm (increasing opening from August 2005) The Hercules Inn and Restaurant is and old Coaching Inn situated in the heart of the Leicestershire Countryside, tucked away in the picturesque village of Sutton Cheney, and facing the church where King Richard 3rd is reputed to have taken his last mass, the night before the battle of Bosworth Field. The Inn, which is believed to be named after a noteable local horse, is within walking distance of Sutton Cheney Wharf, on the Ashby Canal. In the comfortable beamed bar, The Hercules maintains it's original 'proper country pub' atmosphere. There is a range of musical instruments on display, and the Landlord / Chef, Luke and his family and staff encourage visitors to 'have a go' with impromptu music. The regular music nights, with a range of local artistes encourage participation, or indeed the opportunity to be entertained in true community style whilst enjoying a 'very well kept pint' from our range of ales. Pub food, and cream teas are available during the week, and evenings (see above) Adjacent to the pub is the separate restaurant / function room, where you can enjoy the intimate atmosphere of the old stable block, and a selection of fine food from Luke's regularly changing menu, which is all prepared from fresh ingredients and supplied locally. Our friendly 'Front of House' staff will ensure that dining out, whether evening or Sunday Lunch, is a special experience, complemented by the quality and presentation of your food. Highly recommended are Luke's home made pate, selection of fish dishes, home made desserts and award winning Roskilly's Cornish Ice cream. At the rear of the building, though the archway, is an outside patio / seating area for summer dining, or to enjoy a refreshing drink in the sunshine. The car park is also situated at the rear of the building, and tethering of horses, parking of cycles is welcomed. Whether approaching by road, or canal, this is a destination Pub and Restaurant with superb cuisine. The Hercules experience is not to be missed! (Children welcome, and dogs welcome in the pub)
