Further Description
  • Lightfoot House, Redmire, North YorkshireLightfoot House is a Grade II listed building with many original features. The cosy, comfortable cottage, built we believe around 1580, offers a beamed lounge with fireplace and electric log-burner type stove (or if you prefer, an open fire), also a storage heater, dining table and chairs. Ther is a TV, video & CD player, but radio reception is not too good because of the 2' thick walls!! The well equipped kitchen contains, cooker microwave, washing machine, and table and chairs, and a storage radiator. There is also the original dairy room whcih houses the fridge-freezer. The bathroom has a telephone handset style fitting to enable a shower, but beware the ceiling is low so mind your head, there is a wall heater, sink and WC, also a velux window. There are two bedrooms sleeping four in one double, and a twin bedded room. A cot and high chair are available. All heating, linen, and hot water is included in the rental cost. One small well behaved pet allowed. Sorry no smoking in the cottage.Outside through the kitchen door is a right of way to a secure stone barn for the storage of cycles etc.Parking is just off road, by the cottage. Outside the front door is a communal driveway, with a superb view of Penhill, we have put some chairs in the barn, and a folding table inside the front door so it's just the right place to sit on a warm evening with a glass of wine. The Bolton Arms, in the village offers good home cooked food. The Wensleydale Railway now accesses Redmire, so for walkers and cyclists, you can access the dale by main line to North Allerton, a bus ride to Leeming Bar, and take the train to Redmire. It is wonderful walking country, and the North Yorkshire cycleway is a mile past the pub!!!
