  • Traditional Inn providing a warm welcome and offering real ales, (Simon is often told that his beer is the best kept in the county) fine wines and excellent homemade food in the bar and restaurant. Produce has been sourced locally and is organic where possible. Specialist diets catered for (gluten/wheat free/vegetarian/vegan) and vegetarian/vegan wines and bottled beers are stocked. Traditional, homemade Sunday roast lunches. House speciality Beef Wellington - Bar speciality hot beef sandwiches. The Vintage Sports Car Club meets every second Tuesday of each month at The Lion Inn, Woonton. Splendid vintage cars are available to view in the car park from 19.00 hours free of charge and all are welcome to have a look. Donations to St Michael's Hospice are also welcome. A set menu is available on these occasions eg Shepherd's Pie Or Braised Sausage, Yorkshire Pudding and Mash. We have featured in 'The Good Pub Guide' for 4 years and are awaiting to be upgraded to the main section (still) following an assessment.  Dianne cooks all the food therefore ensuring a high, consistent standard.  Dianne recently beat two Michelin starred Chefs on a Cook Off at a London TV studio and produced a three course meal in 25 minutes.The first Tuesday of each month will be 'Pudding Night'.  Tuesday 7th December 2008 will be 'Pudding Night' which will consist of Steak & Ale Pudding Or Lamb & Leek Pudding - £8.95 per person.Each Wednesday is a themed culinary evening.  The next will be a Spanish Evening on Wednesday 19th November 2008 - two courses for £12.95 per person.  The following Wednesday will be November 1st which will be 'Carribean Evening.  We may not be the cheapest but we rank with the best. Dianne and Simon hold a Storytelling Evening on every third Tuesday of each month.  There is a main narrator but anyone wishing to participate is welcome to do so and those just wishing to listen are also welcome.  The poetry or stories do not have to be published works, tales may be related from experience or self written and childrens' stories are always well received.  Great fun is had by all.Play traditional games in the beer garden during the summer.  The Inn garden is very pretty with views to the Black Mountains.  Several croquet sets are available including a smaller, lighter set suitable for children. instructions available or just have a knock about.  'Ringing The Bull' is a traditional game that has been played for centuries.  The test is to get a ring onto the hook in the Bull's nose.   A 3' draughts board/snakes and ladders board is also available as are giant noughts and crosses or quoits.   The 'Captain's Mistress' is to be played in the bar.  A Darts Board is also in use.  Friday Night is Pembridge League Darts' Night.
