Further Description
  • Local harmony chorus offers free singing course Sawtry-based men’s harmony chorus, Vocal Academy, is once again offering free singing lessons for men. So, if you have been inspired by the BBC’s programmes “The Choir: boys don’t sing” , “Last Choir Standing”, the drama “All the small things” or just enjoy singing – even if it’s only in the shower or the car - then this is the course for you! The health benefits of singing are well-documented: a recent Daily Telegraph article (11 May, p27) cited at least 3 examples of people suffering from a range of conditions had found benefits both in the diaphragmatic breathing employed by well-trained singers and from the social aspects of joining a choir. Covering basic vocal techniques, this “Come & Sing” course begins on Wednesday 9 September 2008 at Sawtry Junior School and runs for 8 weeks. Each session will begin at 730pm and finish at 9pm followed by tea & coffee - that's 12 hours of entirely free tuition. What's more, they guarantee it will be fun - along the way you will learn to sing several popular songs in close harmony.
