Further Description
  • ‘Paws for Coffee on the Beach’ - Hearing Dogs for Deaf People Rotary Wheel House, Hill Head Beach   - 30th July 2009   Thanks to the great generosity of local businesses, including Lee Book Shop, Canine Plus, Hill Head Chandlery, Solent Pet Supplies, Maximillian Wines, Leonard’s and Jane Hug Jewellers - together with friends, neighbours, and Hearing Dog supporters from across Hampshire - the amazing amount of £711 was raised in two hours!   The weather was kind to us and about 150 people, including many deaf recipients and their working dogs - together with Hearing Dog puppies currently in socialisation came along for coffee and cakes at the Rotary Wheel House, Hill Head - and made it a fantastic morning.   Dianne Duffield, who has recently appeared on BBC 1’s One Show with her Hearing Dog Joey, came along with her family and told us about how Joey has made a difference to her life, which inspired us all to raise even more funds for Hearing Dogs - each one cost £5000 when fully trained.   Our local  Hill Head Beat Officer, PC Jim Heath came along and was a big (sorry, Jim) hit with everyone, so thanks again for coming, Jim.   Many, many thanks to you all and we look forward to seeing you  at ‘Paws On the Beach’ in 2010.   If your group, club or society would like a talk on the working of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf please call Christine or Tim Seward on 01329 668516
