Further Description
  • Walking your way to Health is a walking group that meets regularly at Priory View Community Centre, Lockgate West, Windmill Hill, WA7 6LF. Walks are short and close to home, aimed at those who want to get fit gently, or who feel they may not have the strength and stami to join a typical walking groups. Walks are tailored to the needs and abilities of the participants and will last from 20-45 mins depending on what people feel they can do. These health walks are not only about walking and health, but about meeting new people, having fun, enjoying the outdoors, gaining confidence, becoming less isolated and being part of the community. Some walks are just gentle strolls sround the park or laocal area, but we also have themed walks (such as a bird walk), walks to other areas or days out - we recently took another walksing group to Ness Gardens. The next walk (May 5) is going to be a bluebell walk in partnership with the Woodland Trust, and in the next few months we will be going to see the gardens in Norton Priory - plus much more. Walks and themed walks are all free to attend. We meet at Priory View Community Centre at 2pm and the dates of the next walks are: Tue 5 May, Tue 19 May, Tue 2 June and Tue 16 June - walks will caryr on every two weeks after these dates. Please wear sutiable shoes and bring a jacket in case of rain. Feel free to bring all your friends and even bring your dog! This project is run by Groundwork Merseyside with funding from The Big Lottery and is a project in Target: Wellbeing suite of projects. See you on Tuesday!
