  • Volunteer Speaker – in your local community   Why we need you: To inform and inspire interest and support for Deafblind UK through giving talks in your local community.   What will I be doing? Representing Deafblind UK through regular speaking engagements Presenting a variety of topics including What is Deafblindness? Communication methods, Deafblind History Makers and Fundraising information Addressing diverse communities and audiences of all ages informing them about the work of Deafblind UK Recording enquiries generated from the public and pass this information to Kate Coles, Community Fundraiser, who will ensure that appropriate contact is made Keeping simple records of your talks for administrative purposes What skills and attributes do I need to have? A proficiency and confidence in public speaking Good communication and presentation skills An ability to recognise and source speaking opportunities in your own community Good influencing and persuading skills for encouraging people to get involved How much time do I need to commit? Ideally you would average a minimum of one talk a month on a flexible time commitment where you keep your own diary of speaking engagements. What support will I be given? We will give you full training and induction on all aspects of this role All appropriate materials to support your presentations will be supplied by us Kate Coles, Community Fundraiser, will offer continuous support and guidance What benefits can I expect?
