Further Description
  • POPPY APPEAL COLLECTORS WANTED Norton and Lenchwick are prime areas for the Poppy Appeal and we have had the fantastic help of Mrs Howard for the last 5 or 6 years. Regrettably this year she has been unable to collect for us from House to House as she has been advised to take things easy by her Doctor. We are very sorry to lose such an excellent and dedicated Collector and she will be difficult to replace. The duties are not very intense. Under normal circumstances, they are only affective during the Poppy Appeal Period but can be dealt with adequately over say, 2 Saturdays or Sundays each year. We had a school teacher for one year and she treated it as a nice Sunday afternoon walk with the family.Anyone wishing to take a little more responsibility might like to take on the duties of Poppy Appeal Organiser, working directly with the Poppy Factory at Aylesford. These duties involve ordering Poppies and Wreaths etc and distributing them around the Collectors and taking trays etc to the commercial outlets at the Evesham Country Park. Then at the end of the period, collecting the Trays and money boxes, counting the money and making payments to the bank. even this side of the work is not too demanding but it requires some dedication and done in the right way, many new friends can be made.If anybody is interested in this very worthwhile work in supporting those of our Armed Forces in need, either as a Collector or Organiser, please contact Jeff King on Evesham 443923 for further details. To view the Worcestershire Royal British Legion's web page on the Poppy Launch in Worcester please use the following Link http://worcestershire.britishlegion.org.uk/index.cfm?asset_id=1618I look forward to hearing from you.Good luck and best wishesJeff King
