Further Description
DAMARA was formed by a small group of people from the Ditton area headed by Tony Mulcuck in 1994 and are part of the larger association named KentARA, Kent Active retirement Associations. This body has some 75 clubs in Kent and is we believe unique in the whole of Engalnd in catering for the retired people who are still active. We at DAMARA have a monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month in the Ditton Community Centre, which is one of the best community centres in Kent, having been built some 30 years ago it still comes out near the top..At every other meeting we have a speaker on very diverse topics and in between that we have a quiz or game safternoon. Each month we have an outing which takes us to places such as Eastbourne, London Eye, Brick Lane Old Tyme Music Hall, River trips, Shows etc etc, we are very wel supplied with choice by our very hard working offiocers, two rambles take pace each month and we have, for the last four years had a singing group that entertains people at other clubs or care home and usually raise about £1,000 each year which they donate to a charity of their choice. Our Secretary Tony Mulcuck is also the Editor of the Associations newsletter of which there are 4 editions per year and which has a run of over 6,000 copies per quarter supplied to the various clubs, he also organises a Christmas Concert at Mote Hall, Mote park, Maidstone and has had Todd Miller and the Joe Loss Orchestra for the last few years, this year he has booked the Len Phillips Orchestra. Any one interested in more details of our club or any other club in Kent, please get in touch with Tony on 01732-844195 or Email: tony@tmulcuck.wanadoo.co.uk
