Further Description
  • Clifton Primary School is one of the first ten schools in the Fylde and Wyre area to provide completely freshly produced meals each day for the children. And they’re going down a storm with the pupils!  The new school year has started with ‘Health and Fitness of both mind and body’ at the forefront of the thinking at Clifton Primary School. Not only is the school serving up a new menu full of delicious, completely freshly prepared meals, it is doing so in a completely refurbished cafeteria setting – with a new servery and brand new equipment for the children to use.  “The children think its wonderful that they are now being given freshly prepared food, and there have been very few grumbles,” commented the Headteacher Mr Paul Slater. “The new menu supports all of our work on making sure that the children have a healthy body as well as a healthy mind.”  Sally Chilton, the school’s Midday Supervisor said, “The school catering team are all working really hard to produce the fantastic new menu on offer, and it’s great to see such an uptake on school meals. The fact that we have new trays and cutlery as well as new tables and chairs have made lunchtimes a really nice social occasion for the children.”  The school is one of many which is dedicated to Health and Fitness as part of the Natinal Healthy School’s Programme, and promotes the need for a healthy mind and healthy body throughout the curriculum including time for Brain Gym activities as well as all of the children taking part in P.E. and a whole range of extra-curricular activities run by the staff.  This new start on healthy eating in schools can only help children to learn more about the importance of a healthy and balanced diet.  “It will be wonderful to share this new venture with parents during our Open Evening and Parents Evenings in October. I think they will be amazed at how school dinners have definitely changed from when they were at school – and it’s a change, very much, for the better.”  For more details about Clifton Primary School, why not visit the school website www.cliftonprimary.co.uk .
