FRANCES At the end of January; on the 5th Sunday; all of which are set as Benefice Sundays; we had a lovely Service in St. Giles when some 80 people from across all three Parishes celebrated the Festival of Light known as ‘Candlemas’ and a ‘Christingle’; the children going away with a Christingle.  The Service was due to be held in St. Margaret’s and I know that some in Margaretting were disappointed that it was changed. The reason was, that we could not afford to take a chance that ‘Railtrack’; who had established three weekends of working at the ‘Church Crossing’ would in the event, leave the crossing clear for us on the Sunday.  They assured through letters to local households, that there would be no problem but we were badly let down by them last year and in the event; our scepticism this time was justified.  The crossing was in fact totally blocked at the time of the Service on the 29th and I could have had 80 people unable to both park and to get to the Church building. REFLECTION Once a child watched an old man drinking from a well in the local market square. After drinking his fill, the man continued to gaze into the well as though he were looking at someone. The child approached him and asked: “Who are you looking at?”“God” said the man.“Can I see Him?” asked the child.“Of course you can”, replied the man;“just lean over and look into the water”. All the boy could see however, was his own reflection.“But there’s only me there”, said the child in disappointment. “You promised that I would see God”!“But you are”, replied the man.“God lives in you” and when you look at your reflection; you see Him in your own face”.“Look for Him each day of your life”. There is a reflection of God in each one of us. It will continue to be the case, that if there is work at that crossing on a Sunday, that the Service may well be transferred to one of the other Benefice Churches.  I continue to find it disturbing that I have never had any direct notification from ‘Railtrack’ that I may not be able to conduct Services in my Church on a Sunday; or be able to carry out my job.   BENEFICE LENT COURSEThis will be 4 weeks in length with the Theme of ‘The Stations of the Cross’.  Through a variety of approaches we shall be following the Way of Christ to the Cross. This will be held in St. John’s – Church Road – Mountnessing on the three Mondays – 20th and 27th of March; Monday, 3rd April and Tuesday; 11th April, all sessions from 8.00-9.00pm.  Do come and join in. APCMThe ‘Annual Parochial Church Meeting’ (AGM) of St. Margaret’s will be held after the Morning Service on Sunday, April 23rd at 12.00.At this Meeting we reflect in part on the year that has passed since the previous APCM but then move on to elect the officers to run your Church for the coming year and to talk about how we move forward.  This year, we shall need to find at least one new Church Warden and a Treasurer, as well as the normal Council Members.  Are you someone who enjoys figures?  If so, please come forward and help us. Our accounts are not very complicated. These decisions and appointments are not just a matter for those ve
