Further Description
February 2006 Newsletter The newsletter of Tintwistle Residents AssociationFebruary 2006TIDY TINTWISTLE DAY 2006Tidy Tintwistle Day 2006” is taking place onSaturday 10 th June and we need your help to lend ahand to improve our village. This year’s Tidy Tintwistle Day is being sponsoredby “Environment Agency Action Earth” and is partof a campaign involving over 750 voluntaryorganisations, businesses and community groups, all undertaking projects that are of benefit to theenvironment.Local organiser, Anne Steele, wants to see as manypeople as possible helping on the day. “We needlots of help to clear Tintwistle of litter and otherrubbish. Everyone is welcome to turn out on theday”.More details about how you can help with 2006’s“Tidy Tintwistle Day” will be available in thespring but, in the meantime, make a note in yourdiary for 10th June, so that you can help to makeour village a cleaner place to live.,,BRING& BUYThe Bring and Buy sale that we held atBradbury House on December 17th was aresounding success, raising over £300 whichwill further our aim to help deservingcauses in the village .We would also like to thank all those whohelped to make the day a success, especially the ladies from the WI who gaveup their time to help us. We will be holdingother fund raising events throughout the yearand look forward to the same successApplications for financial help will beconsidered Telephone TreasurerCynthia Mitchell on 856191We asked the above question in our JuneIssue and have not yet received an answer, however the plot thickens!Mrs Anne Steele wrote to the Parish Councilasking where the Tubs, Pots etc were andreceived no answer. She then wrote to theCommissioner for Freedom of InformationAct who instructed the Council to replywithin the statutory 20 days. Of course trueto form the council did not respond. Insteadthey wrote to the Commissioner the followingletter. (spelling and grammar not ours!) :-"Mr Ivatts,In response to this ongoing complaint I writeto you now with a Refusal Notice with theexemptions mentioned under the Act.Firstly I wanted to ask you that if on bothoccassions the Council did not constitue aproper refusal notice then by definition doesthis mean that it must do so once using theproper guide and then re-consider its decsionbecasue that was a valid one. If that is thecase then this would constitute thatfirst Refusal. If not however and in relationto the letter dated 13th April and Q1 thisCouncil would apply S22 exemption. Theinformation that has been quoted here isinfact incorrect through no fault of theCouncil but the receipt was incorrectlyworded and so cannot comment on somethingthat it knows is wrong. The receipt has since been ammended andgiven to this Council and it will publish thisin its next Newsletter and so branding thisinformation as a future publication”.If you can make sense of that gobbledygook thenyou may have gathered that the council is trying tosay that the receipts for the tubs and pots were incorrectlyworded; however the wording seems okayto us.The council apparently sent Councillor Stanway tospeak to Mr Wood at hisMottram shop to persuade him to write a letter tothe effect that he had made out the receipts wrongly. On speaking to Mr Wood, he said that he had notsupplied the tubs, pots etc but had only plantedthem. This explanation however raises a number ofquestions such as :-1) Where were the tubs, pots hayracks etc. bought.2 )If the tubs cost £12.95 each to be planted and thepots £15.75 to be planted , then logically the potsmust be bigger than the tubs!!!3) At £25.00 per hayrack, these must be bigger thanthe tubs and pots4) Finally, where are these hugeplanters ?Find the Pots CompetitionA £10 prize will be given toanyone who can find the pots ortell us where we can see themMrs Steele has still not received an answer toher query and the council has not published its“amended”
