  • Knights Templar School Parents? Association Launches New Minibus AppealWith the recent growth in numbers at Knights Templar school, the wide range of school activities and the continuing popularity of the Duke of Edinburgh?s Award Scheme, the school is now in urgent need of a third minibus. The use of minibuses is indispensable for a whole range of school activities including field trips, sporting competitions and music events. They are also a necessity for the Duke of Edinburgh?s Award Scheme to take youngsters to various parts of the country to complete their expeditions for the scheme. The D of E is invaluable as a character forming activity and Knights Templar has been highly successful with hundreds of pupils participating in the scheme and achieving awards at bronze, silver and gold over the last few years. The KTS Parents? Association has launched a New Minibus Appeal to help provide this as soon as possible. Because of the high cost of a new minibus (around 20,000) KTS uses vehicle lease purchase to make such an investment. This still costs around 5000 a year which is too large a sum to take out of the annual school budget. Funds raised by the Parents? Association through their usual events are distributed between school departments to buy much needed equipment and supplies. Unfortunately, Baldock causes do not have access to major fundholders such as the Stevenage Community Trust, Hitchin Youth Trust, and the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation. Therefore, the Parents? Association has launched a separate appeal purely for the minibus. The Knights Templar School Minibus Appeal will be two pronged. Firstly, the Parents? Association will be holding an Auction of Promises on 6th May 2006 as part of the Baldock Festival Fortnight and secondly, monetary donations will be most welcome from anyone who feels they would like to give their support in this way.If any business or individual is able to help the Minibus Appeal by either supplying goods or a service that the Parents? Association can include as part of the Auction, or would like to make a monetary donation, it would be very much appreciated. To make a donation to the Auction or the Minibus Appeal Fund, or for more information, please contact Ms Tracey Hemming, Deputy Head, on 01462 620700.
