  • Improving the Roads and Pavements in East HorsleyDid you know that you can report problems with roads, pavements and street cleaning directly to the responsible authority? Of course, you may bring the offending item to the notice of the Parish Clerk, or one of the Parish Councillors, but it will receive just the same attention and is quicker to report directly. Typical road and pavement problems, (apart from cleaning, which is covered in the following paragraph) are already listed on the Surrey County Council website, at www.surreycc.gov.uk  Once there, click on 'Reporting Highways Problems (top right on Home page), then it is just a case of sorting through the A to Z guide, and clicking on the nearest description to the problem you wish to report. Just follow the instructions and the problem will be reported and listed on the contractor's list of jobs to be attended to. You will receive confirmation together with a report number.  A priority system is operated, so be patient if it seems a long time before a problem is resolved, it means that something more urgent is receiving attention first. Problems to do with street and pavement cleaning, dead animals on the road, pavement, or verge; fly tipping at the roadside, or grafitti removal, are dealt with by Guildford Borough Council. All you need to do for these is to email a description of your problem directly to hotlinec@guildford.gov.uk. You will receive confirmation.  Thank you for reporting your problem directly - you are helping to make East Horsley a better place to live!
