Further Description
  • Poetry for the PeopleThe two poetry groups in Belper are collaborating in a unique project for the town. They are planning to establish a poetry walk in memory of Beth Fender, who founded the groups. It will also be an unusual tourist attraction, in that only a handful of such walks / trails exist in the UK.A selection of poems, or parts of poems, has been chosen by the steering group, to be interpreted by local artists in a variety of ways (including wood, stone, slate, perspex, stove enamel). These will be sited in various points around Belper so that it is possible to walk aroound a "loop" of poetry sites.Artists of a professional standard who would like to be associated with this project are invited to contact us with ideas; all sugggestions are welcomed. If you would like to be involved in any way, or make a donation, please contact either: Glen Mulliner on 01332 840360 or Hilary Fender on 01773 827274."What is this life, if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?"
