  • To all you folk in Camrose the following may be of interest to you. I understand that your village changed its name from Sparling to Penrose in 1906 but you dont know why. Well this may explain it:-Very recently I was thumbing through an old book I bought in Llanelli (dated 1888) and happened to come across two telegraphs from I think a certain Penn Camrose (can't be sure because of the styled writing, maybe you can work it out from the attachment). Anyway the telegrams are from December 7th 1911 and originated in oxford but were recieved in Camrose. They are asking if Penn Camrose (maybe) has got his tickets for the varsity match. I'm presuming (guessing) that this certain (rich?) sportsfan may have something to do with your villages history and name?
