Further Description
  • Footpath maintenance During the Parish Appraisal in 2002 there were over 80 problems with footpaths in the Parish reported by 40 households. These ranged from poor stiles, vegetation, and waymarking (i.e. footpath maintenance) to crops and animals limiting access. The Parish Council, in its action plan, appointed two footpath wardens to deal with problems and improve maintenance, whether by Surrey County Council, landowners or by volunteers where help is needed. The Footpath Wardens are: John Doust (835707) and Dick Osborne (893047)Please contact them if you encounter a problem with a footpath.Surrey County Council provide up to 25% of the cost of stile repairs/replacement or will provide a stile kit free of charge if the landowner erects it. John & Dick can arrange a working party to assist in the stile construction, particularly where a member of the local community needs the help (e.g. farmers). Advance warning is necessary as SCC need to inspect the site and undertake a Safety Risk Assessment if there are to be volunteers under their auspices11 new stiles have been erected in this way since the Parish Council initiated action in November 2002Please email or telephone John or Dick if you are willing to help as a volunteer.
