Further Description
  • Sgt Joseph Inkerman Johnson from No 222 Squadron (RAF Hornchurch) was shot down and killed in his Spitfire I (R6629) by a Bf 109 at Bishopsbourne, Kent on the 30th of August 1940.I am an amateur researcher looking for information as to the whereabouts of the above crash site. I am not a souvenier hunter and I'm not interested in excavating the site I would merely like details of the location. Sgt J.I.Johnson is buried in Towcester Cemetery, Towcester, Northamptonshire. (close to my home town) I would be very gratefull for any information received regardless of how small it may seem. Garth Barnard.
