  • Quality Status – In January 2006 Ashover Parish Council received “Quality Status” accreditation by demonstrating that it is representative, in touch with its community, competent and capable of taking on an enhanced role.  This assurance of quality is helping to smooth the way for the formation of partnerships with principal authorities, enabling projects and initiatives which reflect the needs and preferences of the community. Out of 204 active local councils in Derbyshire, Ashover Parish Council was the 9th local council in Derbyshire to be awarded “Quality Status”, 2nd in North East Derbyshire and in the top 250 of 10,000 local councils in England and Wales. Parish Council Meetings – Residents are welcome to attend and speak at Parish Council Meetings.  Parish Council Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month (except August when no meeting is held) in The Sports Pavilion, Milken Lane, Ashover from 7.30 p.m.  Public Participation is invited for the first fifteen minutes of every meeting, when anyone from the parish may raise any issue with the Parish Council.  A copy of the Agenda, together with notification of planning applications, Parish Clerk’s Report, Minutes of the previous meeting and other information may be found at the Parish Council website: www.ashover-pc.gov.uk or on any of the six notice boards situated around the parish. A summary of each meeting is published in the Parish Magazine and in The Derbyshire Times “Grassroots” section.Newsletters – Your Parish Council issues four Newsletters per year, one of which includes the Annual Report of the Parish Council and is circulated to every household in the parish.  The other three Newsletters are circulated as widely as possible around the parish, in the Medical Centre, Parish Hall, Uppertown Social Centre, shops, Post Office, Pubs, School etc.  Newsletters are produced in May, September, December and March.  If you have difficulty in obtaining a copy, please contact the Parish Clerk Annual Parish Meeting - This meeting is held during May and notification is posted on all six notice boards and in the Annual Report.  Parishioners are invited to come along and meet their Council and raise any issues they wish.  Light refreshments are served during the evening.
