Further Description
  • The Reading  Group meets at the Royal Oak Public House in Staveley from 7p.m. to 9p.m. every first Wednesday in the month, apart from January, August and September. The books are chosen by consensus at the start of the year and are ordered from the library.  There is no cost involved. So far this year we have read, 'The Red Tent', 'The Pirate's Daughter', 'The White Tiger', 'The Purple Hibiscus', and are about to read (in May), 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist'. We started five years ago and are still going strong.  During this time the books read have been extremely varied and we always try to both enjoy the book and push our boundaries and awareness that little bit further! We are very happy to see anyone who is interested in books and reading and can promise you good company and plenty of laughter.  Plus, occasionally, some confusion..............depending on the book!If you would like more information or just to chat about 'how we are', please contact Sylvia Bagnall on 340248. Although we meet in Staveley, all are welcome wherever they live - nobody is excluded.
