Further Description
  • St John’s Village Society was formed originally in 1990 to coalesce the views of the village and represent them to Woking Borough Council. The Society ran for several years and built up a good relationship with WBC and was able to influence thinking about the Village Centre and the Lye during a formative period.More recently the Society was reformed in the light of an application to build on St John’s Lye. This was robustly defended by the Society, anxious to preserve the unique nature of our village green.Currently the Society is engaged in a number of activities 1                    supporting the Memorial Hall on a project to rebuild the old Hall on the existing site2                    traffic calming on Festival Path3                    a Woodland Management scheme that we hope will involve Merrist Wood4                    a project with LA21 for a market in the Village5                    supporting the bi-annual litter- pick organized by our local councillor, Graham Cundy. We welcome members who want to join and take part in making St John’s a good place to live.
