Further Description
  • The Frieth Cricket Ground is situated in a beautiful area of farmland known as Parmoor Park, approximately ½ mile south of the village.  Cricket has been played here since the mid 19th Century when Lord Parmoor provided a field for recreational use by the village community.  Reports in the Hambleden Parish Magazine show that cricket was played at Parmoor as early as 1867 and many other historical references indicate that cricket has been played continuously since.  In the mid 20th Century that part of Parmoor Park which included the cricket field was sold and the Ground became part of Chisbridge Farm.   Since then the Ground has changed hands several times and now lies within Parmoor Park Farm.  The location of the Ground is: Parmoor lane, Frieth, Henley, Oxon, RG9 6NH    Frieth Cricket Club is open to all, irrespective of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour, social status, and sexual orientation.  Members come from both the rural Hambleden Valley and the larger communities of Lane End, High Wycombe and Marlow.  These players are attracted by the opportunity to play competitive league cricket and traditional friendly cricket in a beautiful rural setting.   The setting is complemented by a good quality playing area which is maintained entirely by the voluntary efforts of club members.    Frieth Cricket Club has always offered older players the opportunity to return to cricket and youngsters the chance to play their early cricket before, perhaps, moving on to greater things.  Most notably Wilf Slack, who represented England at Test level in 1986, and Jason Harrison, the current captain of Buckinghamshire CCC, played their early cricket at Frieth.Frieth CC welcomes players of all ages and abilities.  If you would like to play cricket in a beautiful rural setting, please vist our website at http://frieth.play-cricket.com
