Further Description
  • Shipley Parish Room was built in 1897 by Squire Miller Mundy in response to a request from the then Parish Council to provide a more convenient location for tenants to pay their annual rent.   Due to a structural problem, the owners, Derbyshire County Council, closed the building in 1998 and since that time, Shipley has been without a meeting place for the community.  After distributing community questionnaires to determine the level of support for re-opening the Parish Room, over a period of 4 years, Shipley Parish Council negotiated a 42 year lease on the property.  Shipley Parish Room Trust (Registered Charity No. 1111831) was formed to secure the necessary funding to extend, refurbish and re-open the Parish Room for community use – providing a modern welcoming amenity that conforms with disability access regulations.  Basic details and contact will be available via the Parish Council website -  www.shipleyparishcouncil.org
