  • Bovey Tracey  Bovey Tracey is one of the main gateway towns to Dartmoor, with a number of unique visitor attractions and a good mixture of shops. A pretty cob and Dartmoor-granite built town, situated on the River Bovey it is home to the internationally renowned Devon Guild of Craftsmen, based in a 19th century water mill on the river. Close to Bovey Tracey is Heathfield, which is a substantial residential and significant business area within the Parish. Nearby to Heathfield is Bovey Heathfield, site of a Civil War battle and a haven for rare plants and wildlife, which is now owned and managed by Devon Wildlife Trust. Other local attractions include the House of Marbles glass blowing and visitor centre and the National Trust’s Parke estate. On alternate Saturday mornings, the town’s Farmers Market sells local produce. Information on all these attractions and much more can be found by contacting the Bovey Tracey Information Centre, Station Road, Bovey Tracey (01626 832047).Bovey Tracey Information CentreThe Bovey Tracey Information Centre is located in the car park on Station Road directly opposite the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and is open seven days a week from March to November from 10.00am to 4.00pm. With funding from the Dartmoor National Park Authority, Bovey Tracey Town Council and Teignbridge District Council, the Information Centre is staffed by a team of around 20 volunteers whose extensive local knowledge is put to the test by some 20,000 visitors and members of the local community every year.The Information Centre provides a single point of contact where visitors and local residents can access a variety of information relevant to Bovey Tracey and the surrounding area, particularly Dartmoor National Park.If you need to know about local shops and services, places to visit, things to do, where to stay, where to eat, buses, trains, theatres, cinemas, where to walk or cycle, if you need maps, books, postcards or that special local souvenir, then drop in and see us.  The Information Centre also provides internet access. During July and August the Information Centre volunteers provide guided walks around Bovey Tracey. This is an opportunity to discover fascinating facts and stories that lie behind its streets and buildings. Tours last approximately one and a half hours starting from the Information Centre.
