Further Description
  • Doubtless you will have heard of, and probably would recognize Karate, Tae Kwondo, Kendo, Judo or Tai chi, but Ki Aikido (pronounced “key eye-key-doh”) is a Japanese Art which may not be so well known.Aikido means; the way of harmony with nature. We practise with a partner, not an opponent. In Ki Aikido there’s no competition. There are no winners, no losers - just people working together to develop co-operation  not confrontation,  respect  not retribution.Gentleness is strength - relaxation is power. Men and women are therefore not segregated in classes because size, weight and physical strength have no significance. The Ki energy used in class improves concentration, calmness and the ability to maintain stability and can be used to deflect a partner’s attack or to throw a partner. But even more importantly an understanding and application of Ki can be transferred to one’s daily life, on a physical, mental and emotional level. As one learns the various techniques, one will at the same time train the mind, improve health and develop an unbreakable self confidence. So, if you would like to improve your fitness, your ability to relax, or indeed your life in general, just go along. You’ll find Ki Aikido in East Taphouse Community Hall on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
