  • DEVELOPING YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS IN LONDON NORTH Encouraging enterprise and entrepreneurship in young people has been identified as a priority area by governments at a local, national and international level.  The benefits are not just economic, however.  There are clear social and environmental benefits that can be felt in local communities, especially with the rise of social enterprise.  Communities with a culture of enterprise can help to reduce social exclusion through the creation of additional employment and wealth. In 2006-7 a total of 78,000 students benefited from Young Enterprise programmes In London North 12,500 students took part in programmes, this is expected to rise to over 15,000 in 2007-8. Young Enterprise is a national business education charity that has the mission to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise.  In London North it runs a variety of programmes with students as young as 5 up to 25.  These deal with important issues entrepreneurship, innovation, career development, being an entrepreneur and the role of business.  Volunteers from local businesses are critical to the success of these programmes. All programmes are run on the basis of ‘learning by doing’.  Visit our web site for more information www.young-enterprise.org.uk There are a host of business benefits that can come through involvement with Young Enterprise.  Being a volunteer enables employees to develop useful skills in communication, teamwork and leadership.  The experience is practical and an extremely cost effective form of people development.  There are opportunities to increase your business network through meeting other volunteers.  Additionally there are opportunities to invest in your future business through interacting with schools, future customers and employees.  Why not join as us for a team challenge.  Did you do a Young Enterprise programme when in school then join our Alumni and help with providing students with the experience you enjoyed.  For further information about how involvement with Young Enterprise can benefit your business, please contact Shaheen Fani, Development Manager, London North on:Shaheenf@yelondon.com or 07500010678
