Further Description
Red Cross infoThe British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.Red Cross website link: www.redcross.org.uk Red Cross Appeal Week (Sunday 3rd – Sunday 11th) The most important focused fundraising week is Red Cross Appeal Week (RXAW). It still equates to almost 20% of total annual income. It is an opportunity for everyone to get involved to raise the profile of all our local services and to raise money for a very worthy cause. RXAW always includes the 8th May the birthday of our founder Henri Dunant who founded the Red Cross, Red Crescent and Red Crystal movement way back in 1863. In recent years because the charity market place is so competitive it has been harder than ever to continue to raise money. With this in mind we are extremely keen to engage as many people as possible and make this years RXAW as fun and diverse as possible. Would the people of Wrington be happy to have a coffee morning? A quiz at the local pub? A music evening/concert? Sponsored event? Wash cars for cash? Dress in Red at a local school? Open their garden? Bring and Buy sell? Fete? Skittles evening? Darts match? Wine and cheese evening? There are so many ideas and ways to help. If this is the case, we are more than happy to support and help as much as we can. There are so many things that people can get involved in – It would be great to hear your ideas! I am also looking for people to help us collect and spare two hours of your time, can you help? Recycling: We are extremely pro active in terms of recycling. Here at the Red Cross we recycle coins, stamps, ink cartridges and mobile phones. For each phone we recycle the charity gets £3, which is fantastic. If you would like some phone recycling envelopes please do make contact. Open Gardens: Each year the Red Cross host a fantastic open gardens programme. We are always on the look out for potential homeowners that would be willing to open their garden to raise funds for the Red Cross, particularly in this area. We take care of everything including advertising, signage, refreshments on the day and even car parking if necessary. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Red Cross to raise valuable funds but for our supporters to enjoy a great afternoon at the same time. If you are interested please see contact details below.
