Further Description
  •                Marchington Amateur Dramatic Society (MADS)     MADS first performed in 1923, with the pantomime, ‘Bluebeard up to Date’,   which was presented on two evenings in the old Marchington schoolroom.    The Society was dormant during the war years but recommenced afterwards   with several plays during the 40’s and 50’s.    With the advent of the new housing development in the late 60’s and early 70’s   there was an influx of fresh talent and a new Village Hall provided much improved facilities.        MADS have been producing excellent plays, farces, musicals and pantomimes  ever since, as well as staging various socials throughout the year.   Being a member of MADS means participating in any way you chose,  be it acting, directing, producing, scenery, props, costumes, lighting, sound,  the list is endless.  Members may simply watch productions and attend socials.  It is up to them how much they participate.            We also have a strong Youth Theatre, which has performed a number of productions including a recent  Thriller called ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, involving 21 children aged from 9 to 18.   If you wish to know more about MADS please contact the secretary  Kevin Langstone at mads-m@hotmail.co.uk
