  • Kilsby Twinning Association             The Kilsby Twinning Association (KTA) was first formed in the late 1990s, after we saw our neighbours in Barby having so much fun with their own twinning partners!  And as it happens, our twin village (Héricy) is the neighbour of Barby's twin village (Vulaines), so the links between these four communities have grown steadily closer over the years. ...  Our aims are simple: First and foremost, to enjoy ourselves!! To form and support a bond of friendship with another community in another country To make new friends - both in France and in Kilsby! To learn about the French way of life, by actually living with them - the best way to learn a different culture is by sharing it with a friend who already knows it. To add to the range of opportunities and activities available in Kilsby We are twinned with Héricy - a pretty rural community on the banks of the river Seine, and just a few minutes by train from Paris.  Héricy is very picturesque, and though it is close to Paris there is also open countryside within a couple of kilometres, and plenty of sights to see.  For more information about Héricy and the surrounding countryside, visit our Photos, Maps & Ideas page ... Each year we either visit our twin community in Héricy or act as hosts when our French friends visit us - these two activities take place alternately, so that each one happens every other year.  But between these main visits there are lots of fun events organised - barn dances, quiz nights, dinner parties, drinks and social evenings, wine tastings etc ... so there is always something to look forward to!  For more information about the KTA social calendar, visit our News & Events page ... The KTA has about 30-40 full-time members, of all ages and interests.  Some of them have known each other for years, others are more recent arrivals in the village - but we all have a lot of fun together!  For more information about membership of the KTA, contact one of the people below Don't speak French?  Not a problem!!  Most of our members either speak no French at all or just a bare minimum.  Surprisingly, this has never stopped us from communicating with our French friends!  It is amazing what can be achieved with a bit of goodwill and a lot of good humour.  For those who want to learn the language, we have organised occasional light-hearted French courses as part of the social calendar - but there is no compulsion, and you can have lots of fun by just "being yourself".
