Further Description
  • Contact us to find out about our latest projects, how they can help you and how you can help us.  The Coundon and Leeholme Community PartnershipCoundon and Leeholme Community Partnership  sprang from the old Coundon and Leeholme Community Project and is a legally incorporated body whose aim is to improve the quality of life for all the residents of Coundon and Leeholme. All members of the Management Board of the Partnership are from the local community and we have been trying hard over the last year to build on earlier achievements. We have been involved in commissioning the improvements to Coundon recreation area, in consultation with local residents; supported the local Gala Days and the Christmas celebrations; improved the area of land on Collingwood street next to Wilson Avenue; extended the shop improvements scheme to Leeholme; facilitated the development of some street scene improvements on Windsor Terrace; worked with Groundwork and Wear Valley to continue youth provision within the villages; worked with the Police to create a bi-monthly Police and Community forum and have developed a community enterprise scheme to support anyone in the villages who wants to start up a community business, and we’re still operating a successful Community Transport business with 2 buses. As you can see we’re very busy but external funding stops in March 2008. We are aiming to carry on because there is still a lot of work left to do to improve peoples’ lives in Coundon and Leeholme. This means we need to find other sources of funding - which we are doing at the moment. However, the Partnership is not just sustained by cash; it also needs the active involvement of members of the Community. Membership is a pound a year which entitles you to a vote and a say in what the Partnership is doing in your community. There are also vacancies on the Management Board for anyone with particular skills which they think they can offer. If you are interested and would like to know more, you can contact the Partnership office on 665225 or just drop in, the office is the old community centre in Tees Walk.
