Further Description
  • If you are interested in becoming actively involved in marine conservation in Devon, look no further than the MCS Plymouth Local Group! We offer a great way to learn about marine life, whilst helping to support MCS through fundraising, membership recruitment, MCS promotion, and above all, having a good time! The group was founded in 2002 and now has over 150 members and we meet once a month at the Marine Biological Association. Joining the group is easy and costs just £5 per year. You need to be a member of the MCS to join, then all you need to do is come along to one of our meetings and sign up, paying your £5 on the night (cash please!). We will need to know your name, address, contact telphone number, email address and MCS membership number when you sign up. Your email address is important as you will be emailed at least once a month with details of our meetings and other events. We have quest speakers each month covering a wide variety of marine topics. Members of the local group receive a membership card which allows them to get into these meetings for free. As well as meetings, the Plymouth Local Group organise a variety of events such as Seasearch dives, snorkelling safaris, beach cleans, underwater cleanups and weekend courses e.g. underwater photography, Marine life ID, cetacean ID, Marine Mammal Medic, etc. Please see the website for more details.
