Further Description
  •   A POTTED HISTORY OF THE OFFENHAM BRANCHThe British Legion founded in 1921 when a branch was formed in Evesham. This catered for most of the outlying villages at the time but Offenham decided in 1923, to form their own branch and set up their HQ in the Old Reading Room in Main Street. There was an ever increasing demand for Membership after the 2nd WW and the new influx had outgrown the Reading Room. This fact was finally recognised in 1946 when it was decided that there was a need for larger premises to cater for servicemen and women returning from active service and awaiting demobilisation. A plot of land, 3OxlOyds was generously donated by the Late Mr L Boswell to the Branch with the option to purchase the adjoining plot if required. An old Army hut was acquired and converted into a Club -House with a small bar and games room. Over the years membership has grown and extensions made to accommodate these increases within a more permanent structure. We now have one of the best clubs in the area and are pleased to welcome new members to share the excellent facilities with us which have evolved over the years. We have 2 Snooker Tales, one Pool Table, a Skittles Alley, the finest in the area, Darts and Whist which about 40 people attend each week. The Branch is the Charitable side of the Legion and helps raise the money for the Poppy Appeal to give aid to those Serving and ex-Servicemen and women and there dependants in need. The Club is the commercial side and is there to provide entertainment for its Members. To join the club, you must become a Member of the Legion when you will be out forward for Club Membership.
