Further Description
  •  Bladon Junior Church are a happy and active group of about thirty children and young people who meet every Sunday in Bladon Methodist Church. A typical morning at Junior Church includes a short time in the church service during which the children sing a song to the church congregation. This is followed by a variety of activities such as singing, stories, quizzes, games, practising sketches, making videos plus a wide range of practical activities including cooking!   Christmas In the run up to Christmas we are especially busy making decorations, cooking Christmas cakes, decorating the church and preparing for our Candlelit Concert and Family Service. Sometimes we even have time for some Christmas karaoke! Every year we go carol singing around Bladon and over the last twenty years we’ve raised several thousand pounds for local charities. However the favourite event during the festive period has to be the Christmas Party! Sponsered Child The Junior Church sponser a young girl in Senegal in Africa and the children regularly correspond with our foster child and her family.Shows and Concerts The highlight of the year for many of our members are our concerts and our annual production. Our recent shows include Oliver, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Toad of Toad Hall, Joseph and Jesus Christ Superstar. The church has been adapted to seat 80 people with an acting area over two levels. We have also installed a fully equipped lighting rig and control system. Special Services & Events The Junior Church leads many services during the year – at Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday and also at our Anniversary in May. We regularly hold events such as church sleepovers, open-air services, art and craft days and drama mornings. We also visit other churches and organisations to lead services or provide entertainment – for example twice a year we lead a service at Spencer Court in Woodstock. At all our concerts, shows and services there is an opportunity for every child to take part if they wish. We would be delighted to see new children, of any age, who would like to join us. For more information you can visit our website juniorchurch.com or telephone Mrs Pat Clapton on 01993 812177. Alternatively, simply come along to the Methodist Church at 11am on a Sunday morning – you’ll be assured of a warm welcome!
