  • Rugeley Open Spaces Association came into existence in November 1986 as a reuslt of the 'Save St. Augustine's Field'.  That Field being an open space on the edge of Rugeley and threatened at the time with being lost to the local population's use by development of one sort or another.Since then the Association has been involved in various discussions with the Planning Authorities and has always made attemopts to stop - or, at least reduce - the number of 'green areas' around the twon being lost to housing developnment, etc.Its aim and purposes continue to be as they have always have been in this respect.These are to provide and manage for the benefit of the community in the Town of Rugeley an open space or spaces which shall be used for the leisure and recreation of the inhabitants of the town and surrounding areas.Also, to promote and organise co-operation in the achievementof the above purposes and to that end bring together in the Association Represenattaives of the Statutory Authorities and Voluntary Organisations engaged in the furtherance of the above purposes within the Town of Rugeley.  The Association may also consult and use the services of anyone having special knowledge or experience to assist with achieving its aims and purposes.In those respects it also makes every effort to obtain, collect, and, receive money and funds by way of contributions, donations, affilation fees, subscriptions, legacies, grants, and, other lawful methods.  Also, to accept and receive gifts of property of any description (whether subject to any special Trusts or not).The income and any properties owned and managed by the Association is only used to help it achieve its aims and purposes.
