  • The W.I. (Womens Institute) is 90 years old this year and was formed to give ladies a club or meeting place of their own. Jacobstow branch was formed 70 years ago and we meet in the village hall. We meet at 7.30pm, every second Thursday in the month except August. Meetings consist of a little business meeting at the start, then speakers or demonstrations and finish with refreshments and a little social time. There are also trips and parties and a lunch and members get an excellent monthly magazine from the national W.I. We have a lot of contact with W.I.s' in other villagers.if you are a new comer to the area there is no better way of getting to know people than your WI. The membership is £27 a year, but you can visit a couple of meetings free to see if you like it before you join.
