Further Description
DICKLEBURGH & RUSHALL VILLAGE CENTRE LOOKS AHEAD TO A FULFILLING FUTURE.At the Management Committee Annual General Meeting on Monday 26th February 2007 a programme of improvement to, and development of use of, the facilities was presented to the meeting where majority of the local clubs and organisations were represented as follows: Bowls Club, Dickleburgh PCC, Dickleburgh FC, FODS, Good Companions, RBL, RBLW, Rushall, Scouts, Sports & Social Club, Village Society and the Chairman of the Parish Council. The meeting was opened by the Chairman, Mick Logan, thanking everyone for turning out on such a damp evening and handing over to the Secretary, Brian Baker, to explain what had been reviewed since the January meeting.Having just taken over the post from Gerald Seaman who had served the Centre so well ever since its creation back in 1988, and being a retired Management & Quality Consultant, an in-depth study and review of the organization, management and financial status of the Village centre was undertaken with meetings taking place to clarify the relationship of the DRSSC with the Village Centre and agreement reached on the way forward. Basically, it amounted to confirming the need for much closer co-operation and understanding in order to optimise the use of the facilities and consolidate the financial status of the Centre - a new beginning! The election of officers followed with the current incumbents initially standing down as a matter of procedure. Nominations were taken and votes cast as follows:Chairman: Mick Logan. Proposed: Kathy Leeder, Seconded: Lord Duffy.Secretary: Brian Baker. Proposed: Carl Roe. Seconded: Kathy LeederTreasurer: Lisa Goode. Proposed: Brian Leeder. Seconded: Linda Mobbs. All were elected unanimously. The Treasurer informed the meeting of the current balance that indicated a potential trading deficit at the end of the financial year, It was paramount that income had to be increased by making more use of the VC facilities. This inevitably led on to the need to increase hiring charges and alterations to conditions of hire. The Secretary informed the meeting that the conditions had been simplified and charges calculated upon the running costs of each part of the building using the space occupied as the apportionment figure. With a projection of the potential budget or income requirement for 2007/2008, hire charges were calculated with an assumption that use of the facilities will be increased in that period. The meeting was circulated with details of the new charges and agreed that the revised charges should be applied to all events taking place after April 1st 2007. This was formally proposed by Peter Langridge, Seconded by Carl Roe and unanimously agreed by the meeting. It should be noted that there is a two tier system of charges. A lower rate for Local Clubs and inhabitants of the Village and a higher one for external users. Rates for external users have effectively been lowered to provide a competitive edge with other halls. For details of charges contact any of the three officers above or the Booking Secretary, Ann Seaman (Like husband Gerald, Ann has been the Booking Secretary from the very beginning and thankfully wishes to continue.)FULFILLING THE FUTURE!It was agreed that the facilities badly needed some "beauty treatment" in order to attract potential hirers and that "The Ladies" would get together to put this into action, come forward with proposals and methods of achieving the objectives so determined! On a broader scale, major re-furbishment and extensions to the building were discussed with a need to consider applying for grants to achieve this and Peter Langridge is to meet the Secretary to pursue this.
