  • Learn to make bobbin lace.Carol Adkinson has been making lace for 26 years, and teaching for 13 years - she has attended numerous residential courses, seminars and workshops, and has also gained the City & Guilds Teaching Certificate to enhance her teaching skills.    She holds private classes weekly, in Hadleigh High School, but also teaches one-to-one, and small groups who cannot commit to the weekly sessions.    Carol also teaches several groups of children - mainly on Saturdays, on a monthly basis, and also gives talks and holds workshops.   Carol teaches most British and Continental laces, but believes that the learning process should be fun - but her students are usually quite pleasantly surprised at the work they produce in the first term!   Carol also - possibly unique in the area - has all the equipment - pillows, bobbins, threads, prickings etc - for students to borrow until they know they are addicted to the craft! The students learn to makle lace, but can also learn the History of lace-making, and can find out about the local and national groups for lace-makers - as well as visiting local and not-so-local musems and collections, if they so wish.   Carol also runs workshops and seminars, and can intorduce lace-makers to the joys of Lace Days, Suppliers Fairs, and other events.So - if you are interested, do give Carol a ring on Colchester (01206) 322044 - she will be delighted to help.
