Further Description
  • Crowland Cares was established in 1995. It aims to provide additional care, comfort and support for people in Crowland/surrounding villages (eg Holbeach Drove, Cowbit, Whaplode Drove, Gedney Hill, Deeping St Nicholas) who have health or social care needs. We are a registered charity run by a voluntary management committee. Volunteers work with us to give additional help to people living at home and to their carers. We work closely with the local health service and social services to help in a number of ways which complement the services they may already be receiving. Our services are free to users, apart from people needing transport who are asked to pay a contribution towards the driver's costs. Anyone living in the area can contact us for help and we also have a continuing need for volunteers. Volunteers undertake many different activities to help such as:Visiting and befriending people at homeShopping and collecting pensionsDriving people to hospital/GP appointments and other necessary journeysShort term practical tasks such as applying eye drops/dogwalkingAdvice and info from leaflets and reference pamphletsForm filling and letter writingSocial activities and outingsWhat can you do?We always need more volunteers to help in all the ways listed above and in all areas - please get in touch if interested. Volunteers receive some training in basic skills and ongoing support and advice.Make a donation - we need funds to cover our overheads, running costs and volunteer expenses. Any help, either financial or of your time, is very much welcome.Become a member - only costs a few pounds a year and you will receive a copy of our newsletter several times a year.Use us - we are here to help if we can, so please get in touch if you think we can help.
