  •  Final preparations are being made for the third Deepings Arts Festival to be held on 21/22 June 2008 at The Deepings School, Park Road, Deeping St James.This years Arts Festival will, as usual, be showcasing the Visual and Performing Arts from the surrounding area.  On the visual side we have an Open Art exhibition with in excess of 100 paintings on display and for sale.  A craft fair with stalls selling Cards Jewellery, Knitted Clothing, local Photographs, Woodturning and other items.  Demonstrations include Woodturning and making flowers with modelling materials.For Performing Arts the following local schools are putting on Musical displays over the weekend: William Hillyard C of E Primary School, Linchfield CP School, Deeping St James CP School and Baston Primary School.  Also booked are Martin Gadd Karate, Aint Misbehavin (duo) and the Vox Mondiale Choir.  Admission to the daytime events is free.The Artistes/groups appearing at our Gala Variety Show on Saturday evening are Ain't Misbehavin, Amethyst (Ladies Barbershop group), Deepings Gang Show, Deepings School, Emily Webster (solo clarinet), Encore Dance Academy, Ministry of Dance, Peterborough Male Voice Choir and the Strut Dancers.  Tickets for the evening show are priced at £6 (concessions £4) from 01778 345195 or on Saturday 21 June during the day at the school or on the door from 6.30pm.The young Photographers competition continues this year with increased entries.  Entry forms will be available at the school on Friday 20 June from 5pm if you haven't already got one.
