  • The Rowhedge Youth Devolpment Group recently raised funds through grants & fundraising activities for the installation of a Youth Shelter on our recreation ground. This is the first item in a long-term Youth Development Plan for our village. We are working closely with our Parish Council and our youth to improve the facilities for young people. The purchase of the Shelter was brought about after discussion with the young people as to their needs. Our next project will be equipment for the local playground area which currently only houses play equipment for the under 8's. We would be very interested to hear from anyone who has recently purchased play equipment for the over 8's. ie supplier, cost, durability and whether the equipment is used. We are also interested in 'electronic play equipment' but are having difficulties finding suppliers. We have been told about a piece of electronic equipment that was seen at a festival that enabled the user to create a piece of music by tapping the notes out on a flat 'table' divided into squares. The music could then be played back. Also the classic large scale 'floor keyboard'.We would also welcome comments on the best places to apply for grants. We have a few in mind, but there may be some we haven't thought of. Do you have any unusual or tried & tested fundraising ideas?
