  • Great Alne Playground ProjectDue to health and safety reasons it has become necessary to replace some of the existing equipment in the village playground.  A group of local Mother’s have taken on the task of finding suitable replacement equipment, fund raising and applying for grants.   Mrs Hendrie, the new Head Teacher at the village school has given her consent to the pupils being involved in the project and they have already given us lots of ideas of what they would like to play on, which we have used when getting estimates from possible suppliers.  As part of the proposal we are keen to make the playground more of a social focal point of the village and would like to provide three picnic style benches for adults and children to use.  It is anticipated that this area will provide benefits not only to the adult and children residents of the village but also the children of the village school and children from local villages who use the area regularly during school holidays and weekends  Any fund raising events will be advertised around the village, in the Parish Council Newsletters and the Parish Magazine – please support this project as it will benefit all the local community both now and for future generations.For information about the project in general please contact Lorraine Holmes on 01789 766264.
