Further Description
  • The Kirkitnilloch Home Knitters is a 'Volunteering from Home' project run by the Volunteer Centre East Dunbartonshire. Members are either elderly or housebound people who wish to contribute to their community in some way. We have 2 administrators who recruit members, supply the wool and equipment, pick up the finished goods and then pass these on to charities who then distribute them to third world countries. Members are knitting sets of hats, scarfs and gloves for children aged between 0mths and 14 years. Although, we have been asked by a local church if we would like to assist with knitting baby clothing for overseas. We would like to get involved, however funding for the extra wool etc is required. The administrators are:              Donna Dickson - Development Worker              Catherine Buchanan - Forget me not Support WorkerBoth are paid employees of the Volunteer Centre East Dunbartonshire.  They fundraise for wool, materials and equipment in order that members are not having to use their own money to participate, they also deliver wool etc to members houses and pick up the finished products from them too. Which means those members who are housebound and /or elderly do not have to take care of the physicalities of the project. If you can knit and would like to become a member, (membership is free) please get in touch with us on 0141 578 6680. Alternatively, if you have any spare wool or knitting equipment that you no longer require, we would be grateful of any donations.
