  • Founded by friends and family of Katie Baxter to help  young people make positive changes in their lives. The group is a memorial to Katie whose nickname was WAHALA ; a Hausa word which can mean trouble, stress, worries, unnerve, discomfort, unsettle, perturb or anything that can upset. It can also mean disturbance or something that can disturb: “I don’t want your wahala”, “ please don’t give me wahala”, my car gave me a lot of wahala today”.“Katie would have said ”its happened- move on” and that’s exactly what Wahala are doing” said her family: “ we fully support this worthwhile project”.Having successfully engaged the Nottingham Women’s Counselling Project to provide the service, WAHALA offers free counselling sessions to young People aged 14-25:counsellors are members of The British association for counsellors and psychotherapists and abide by the codes and practices of the BACP.
