Further Description
  • St Paul's Scout Group in Maidstone is a small Scout Group to the North of Maidstone, and has been in it's current location in the parish of Boxley for many years. Following a serious fire in 1995, the Group nearly folded due to the destruction of it's Headquarters building and all the equipment within it. Through help from local businesses and individuals, a new Headquarters was opened in 2000, 5 years after the destruction of the original building. During the temporary re-location of the Scout Group, it was unfortunate that a number of sections closed due to a lack of interest partly caused by the lack of a home of the Group. The Group currently operates a Beaver Colony for 6 to 8 year olds, a Cub Pack for 8 to 10 year olds and a Scout Troop for 10 to 15 year olds. The Leaders and the Management of the Group are always open to new ideas and look forward to new blood within the Group to keep it going for the enjoyment of young people in years to come. The Beaver Colony currently meets on a Tuesday night, the Cub Pack on a Friday night and Scout Troop on a Monday night. The Management of the Group meet every few months to put forward any ideas for the progression of the Group and initiatives to recruit new Leaders. The current Management on the Executive Committee are the Chair, Paula Puxty, the Secretary, Toni Shivji, the Treasurer, Richard Murton and the Group Scout Leader, Gemma Hawkes.
