  •  Shenington Gliding Club is one of the most dynamic and progressive gliding clubs in the country, with an increase in membership of 300% since 1991. We pride ourselves on making everybody feel welcome. There is a thriving social life - during summer there are regular club barbecues, whilst in winter there is the usual round of seasonal parties. The longer winter evenings and non-flying days are ideal for formal and informal gliding lectures, usually followed by a trip to a local hostelry for refreshments! Our members range from teenagers to octogenarians and come from all walks of life. We believe we have one of the highest ratios of active flying female club members in the country at all levels of experience. Shenington Airfield is a great site, with a NW facing ridge, excellent Cotswold edge thermals, no airspace problems. The airfield is at the top of the ridge with good drainage which enables us to operate all year round.We have a fully equipped clubhouse with bunkhouse, cooking and shower facilities as well as a bar. There is also on-site catering available at peak times. You may camp or caravan on site or stay in one of the excellent local B&B's. Details available on request.With professional instructors and fully qualified member instructors available 7 days a week you can fly whenever you like.You dont have to be a member to start flying.  Costs of flying start ot £25 for your first flight which includes 3 months free temporary menbership, entitling you to turn up any day in the following 3 months and fly at club rates.  Club rates are at time of writing; £6 per lauch and 25p per minute airborne.  It really is the cheapest way to learn to fly!Full annual membership for the year costs around £220You can book ahead on 01295 680008 or turn up on the day.  If we are not in the club house the chances are we are flying, check our main website www.shenington-gliding.co.uk for details of how to find us on teh airfield safely.  If the weather's bad there's always a free tea or coffee available in the clubhouse!
